Missouri FCCLA members in their junior and senior years of high school who have an interest in public policy, laws and its relation to families, careers and communities are encouraged to apply for a day of job shadowing in the Missouri General Assembly. Up to 50 FCCLA members may be chosen for this program. This program is funded through Missouri FCCLA membership dues and contributions from the Missouri Educators of Family and Consumer Sciences (MoEFCS).

Only affiliated (paid regional, state and national dues) Missouri FCCLA members who are in their junior or senior year of high school are eligible to apply. Only two applications are allowed per chapter. Application deadline is December 9.

Selection Process and Timeline![]()

Interested members will submit an application via an online form. The applications will then be reviewed by the program coordinator. Once reviewed, a letter will be sent to all applicants confirming participation status and an e-mail will be sent to chapter advisers. Members will be chosen for this program, ideally representing all of the 14 Missouri FCCLA regions.

Participants will be required to arrive in Jefferson City in time to attend the project Orientation and Reception at the Governor Office Building, Room 450. All costs (travel, lodging, meals, incidentals, etc.) for the Legislative Shadowing Project are the responsibility of the participants and advisers.
Hotel information: TBA Chapters are responsible for making their own lodging arrangements prior to the deadline. After the deadline, the room rate could increase and rooms may not be available. Remember that the legislature is in session and hotel rooms are reserved very quickly. |

Expectations |
Students will be expected to adhere to a code of conduct while in attendance. All participants are required to wear a business suit or official FCCLA blazer.
All participants must attend the Legislative Shadowing Project Orientation and Reception on February 28th with a chaperone (adviser, school faculty, parent or other as determined by the local school district.) All participants must attend all scheduled functions on March 1st. A complete schedule of events will be posted with the application and updated as needed. After the shadowing experience in Jefferson City, participants are required to follow up by completing activities to educate or inform their chapter, school and/or community about the project. Chapters that do not adhere to the schedule of events, decide not to attend after sending in the confirmation form, and/or do not submit all required documentation are subject to not being selected the following year. |
